Must Have HTC Vive Accessories
Top HTC Vive Accessories:
When it comes to VR, one of the main criticisms that people are going to have is having to wear the big headset. The truth is, this headset while fairly comfortable for short duration, can become a burden when worn for long periods of time. However, after market face cushions can be swapped out to not only provide your face with ample cushioning which can easily mount the headset to your face but also to allow you to change them as needed since they have a tendency to accumulate dirt and grime. Unlike the standard inserts that come with the headset itself, the standalone pack does not ship with both sizes offering narrow and wide. Thus, you will need to be sure to make your choice during the checkout process.
Another accessory that you are likely going to want to look at and possible invest in is another nose rest for the headset itself. While the Vive comes with a single nose rest already attached to the unit, it does not necessarily come with the correct sizing according to your facial needs. The headset default nose rest is the narrow option. This will actually fit a majority of users. However, it is not going to fit everyone and if light ends up sneaking through under the headset at all, you are likely going to want to invest in a wider nose pad anyways. Both of these can be purchased directly on HTC’s website.
USB Extension Cable
A lot of people are unaware of the integration of a built in USB port that is located on the top of the headset. With that being said, it allows for a good amount of integration with other kinds of accessories. However, you might need an extension cable in order to properly access it and use it accordingly. Thus, you will likely need to invest in a USB extension cable at some point during your ownership of the Vive headset. While nearly any cable that you can find on the market will fit the port itself, the HTC official cable will add a good amount of inches that you should be able to work with. Thus, it will increase the usability of connecting and working with third party accessories and USB peripherals.
As you can see, there are a lot of different accessories available and more coming out for the HTC Vive. You are likely going to want to invest in accessories that add to the comfort level of your headset before anything, but accessories that can effectively add functionality and features are coming and are sure to be a hit as well.
