HTC Vive Room Size Requirements
So you are thinking about ordering an HTC Vive. After all of the hype, the Vive has landed and is garnering incredible reviews from all over. A lot of people are applauding HTC for creating the most immersive VR option on today’s market. With that being said, there is a lot of misinformation going around about the HTC Vive, and it’s room size requirements. Below, we will be going over some more information about the Vive itself, and we will be discussing what kind of room requirements you will need to meet for a satisfactory experience.
If you are looking to purchase and play with a Vive, you are going to have to have a minimum amount of 5 x 6.5 feet which needs to be free of any clutter or anything that can get in the way while you are operating the device. You will also need to be sure that the PC you are connected to is going to be within reach of a 5m cable that is fully attached to the headset itself. Thus, you will need to be able to move around with this wire freely within the space you intend to play.
Along with these minimum space requirements, you will also need to be sure that you can fully wall mount the little base stations so that they are within 5 meters apart. Because they are wireless, they are not going to get in the way of your usage of the Vive itself. They are effectively used to track your movements with the headset.
As you can see, the minimum space requirements are very small compared to the myth going around that you need a full room dedicated to using the Vive VR. While you do need a good amount of space to be able to use it to it’s fullest potential, the minimum requirements can virtually be reached in any room in your home as long as you can clear some space to play with it.
How Can It Be Used?
The Vive VR is great in that it can be used whether you are standing up or sitting down. However, the ability for the VR headset to effectively build out the reality to room scale is one of the biggest attractions and features that the HTC Vive can provide the end user in comparison with it’s competition.
Thus, unless you have an extremely small living space, you should be able to use the Vive just about anywhere. Also, setting up the base stations isn’t too much of a hassle since you are only going to have to do it once. In the end, the HTC Vive stands above the competition offering a lot more of an immersive experience that the other VR solutions simply cannot match at this point in time. If you are looking for the best VR system to invest into, the HTC would be a clear choice.
